Synopsis

Claude Galen was brought into this world to train slaves, not to want them.

When his latest victim, a twenty-one-year-old boy named Tristan Kade, begins to see Claude for who he truly is, only one thing can be done to stop Tristan from escaping: punish him.

Trapped in a padded white room with no windows or doors, all Tristan can do to stay alive in this world is to obey Professor Galen.

Submit to him.

Yield. Break.

But what happens when Tristan's body is trained to work against him? When he starts to crave the pleasure instead of fear it? When he begins to see the man behind the monster?

Warning: This story is DARK. It is not intended for those who are seeking a happily ever after. This psychological, erotic MM thriller is meant for those who enjoy the darker side of life. It is NOT a romance and it contains graphic scenes of sexual torture in which some may find upsetting. Other possible triggers include abduction, torture, non con, manipulation, and enslavement. Please consider these warnings before entering the professor's world.

Review

Okay, let's talk about this book! Katze Snow and Susanna Hays warn us that this is not a love story and she is right! It is, however, a story of want, greed, and desire. This book is a psychological, erotic thriller. I like to step into the dark every now and then and this book definitely delivers.

Professor Claude Galen specializes in psychological science, but we soon learn that his specialties run much deeper than that. His focus is on the malleability theory at a University in Edinburgh, Scotland. He has been "monitoring" a potential "subject" Tristan Kade from Wyoming and has invited him to Edinburgh to enroll in the University.

Tristan Kade is a 21-year-old gamer, he runs a gaming channel with his best friend Jake. Tristan was kicked out of his parent's house at 13 when they discovered he was gay. No one in Tristan's life, including Jake and his mom who took Tristan in, know his secret. When Tristan is invited to Edinburgh to tour the University he seems much more interested in using the trip as a way to go to a large gaming con.

When Tristan meets with Professor Galen, he is intrigued and definitely attracted to the older professor. Tristan does seem to do everything to make a poor impression on the professor. What Tristan is unaware of is that Claude has chosen him personally, that Claude wants only him for his program. After the tour and interview, Tristan lets Claude know he'll think things over. When Tristan declines Claude's offer, plan B is put into effect.

Tristan is kidnapped and put through deprivation torture only to be "rescued" by Claude. As the two become friendly, and the attraction grows, Tristan thinks he's safe and that he's falling for Claude. Things start to go horribly wrong when Tristan discovers that his "hero" is really his "monster"
We learn a lot about why Claude is the way he is and Tristan even begins to care for him again. Unfortunately, Claude hurts Tristan too many times and finally seems to break Tristan. Finally, Tristan is able to escape his prison....or is he?

This book was a dark read, but it was a really good read. It's most definitely a thriller and there are some cringe worthy moments. If you're in the mood for something a little different and a little darker, I'd definitely recommend reading this. Katze Snow and Susanna Hays do an excellent job of making you question just how much the human mind and body can handle. The book, while dark is not gratuitous or over the top. I was curled up with my blanket and enjoyed the ride.
